It turns out a scene revealing one of the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s key characters as queer didn’t make the final cut of the film.

This was revealed by actress Daniella Pineda, who plays the paleo-veterinarian Dr. Zia Rodriguez, who medically attends to Blue and the other dinosaurs when they’re taken from the volcano-threatened Isla Nublar island. The scene in question comes into play when Rodriguez is making the trip to the facility. Originally, she shared a comedic moment with Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady, revealing her sexual preference in the process.

“‘Yeah, square jaw, good bone structure, tall, muscles,’” Pineda told Yahoo Entertainment. “‘I don’t date men, but if I did, it would be you. It would gross me out, but I’d do it.’ I love that I’m looking at Chris Pratt, the hottest guy in the world, and I’m like, ‘It would gross me out, but I guess I would do it!’ It was also cool, because it was a little insight into my character. But they cut it.”

Pineda’s Rodriguez joins a list of LGBTQI characters studios have left out the final cuts of movies or simply glossing over in recent years. Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie had her bisexual moment in Thor: Ragnarok axed from the final cut, while the respective studios danced around Wade Wilson’s fluid sexuality in Deadpool 2, as well as the orientation of characters like Josh Gad’s LeFou in Beauty and the Beast and Trini, the Yellow Ranger, in the recent Power Rangers reboot.
