The powers of the Parr family have extended into critical reviews as Pixar’s Incredibles 2 is officially Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Premiering on the aggregator site with a critic’s score of 96 score and a audiences score rumored to be even higher, it was only a matter of time before Brad Bird’s superhero sequel earned that stamp of approval.

Bringing back the voice talents of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson and Bird himself, the 14 years since The Incredibles hasn’t dampened the power of Pixar. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Incredibles 2 sits with an impressive 93 reviews (at time of writing); 87 of these are declared Fresh, and the movie has an average rating of 8.1/10. The website isn’t a perfect way to mesure how well a movie is doing, but Rotten Tomatoes is a pretty good indication of what everyone is thinking.

Praised as a female-first adventure, Incredibles 2 switches up the formula and sends Hunter’s Elastigirl out on a perilous mission while Mr. Incredible is left home holding the baby — quite literally. Even in the world of superhero domination from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe, Incredibles 2 seems to be holding its own against the competition.

Incredibles 2 joins the hallowed ranks of the 18 Fresh Pixar movies. Heading back to the studio’s beginnings with Toy Story in 1995, only Cars 2 and Cars 3 have missed out on the Fresh accolade.

Considering that Bird also directed 2007’s Ratatouille and all three of his Pixar movies rank in the mid- to high 90s, it makes him one of the studio’s most successful directors. Although things could change once Incredibles 2 hits general release, the long-awaited family feature is expected to continue its path to becoming a blockbuster.

Written and directed once again by Brad Bird, Incredibles 2 stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Sophia Bush, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Isabella Rossellini and Brad Bird. The film opens Friday nationwide.
